The second day of the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham has not been kind to Team Ghana.
A series of beatings from hockey to tennis was capped by humiliating news of doping on Friday.
Shakul Samed failed a doping test, giving his prospective opponent from Mauritius a bye to the next stage of the boxing event.

Ornella Sathoud, whose involvement in boxing has drawn interest because she has a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, lost her middleweight boxing bout to Kerry Davis of England.

In swimming, Abeiku Jackson finished 6th in Heat 5 of the men’s 50m Butterfly event and failed to progress to the next round as part of the automatic five qualifiers.

Zaira Forson finished second in her preliminary heats but her time was not good enough to take her through to the final of the women’s 200m freestyle.

17-year-old Unilez Takyi, finished 4th in the Women’s 50m Breaststroke but failed to progress to the final of the event.

In the hockey event, India spanked Ghana 5-0, scoring at least once in each quarter. The game was in front of a packed crowd at the University of Birmingham.

In the men's event, Ghana lost 6-0 to England in their opening game of the pool.

Nigeria beat Ghana in three straight sets in the men's table tennis event. Ghana face South Africa on Saturday in their second Group 2 match.

Wahid Omar qualified for the Round of 16 in the Light Welterweight after beating Isle of Man’s Jamie Devine, 4-1.
A seasoned campaigner, Wahid is seen as one of Team Ghana's medal hopefuls at this year's Commonwealth Games.

The Games continue until August 8.
