The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations says it has launched an investigation into a cybersecurity breach impacting approximately 5,700 customers of MTN Ghana.
The breach, reported on April 28, has prompted immediate collaboration with key regulatory bodies to assess and mitigate the situation.

The Ministry is working closely with the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), the National Communications Authority (NCA), and the Data Protection Commission (DPC) to determine the scope of the breach and identify potential vulnerabilities.
Authorities are also examining whether the Mobile Network Operator (MTN) bears any responsibility for the incident.
In a public advisory, the Ministry assured customers that all necessary steps are being taken to safeguard their data in compliance with Data Protection Laws. Affected individuals will be contacted directly with further instructions and support.
While investigations continue, the Ministry has urged MTN customers to remain calm and vigilant. Updates will be provided as more details emerge.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting digital infrastructure and ensuring accountability in the wake of cybersecurity threats.
