The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) is organizing a one day Conference on Sports Financing in Ghana on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, 9:00am at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra.
The Conference has the following objectives:
a. To identify alternative sources of Sports Financing in Ghana.
b. To encourage corporate institutions to finance Sports in Ghana
c. To encourage Sporting disciplines/Associations to re-brand themselves to attract sponsorship in Ghana.
In this vain, the Ministry has invited stakeholders comprising of Chief Executives of Ghana’s Club 100 companies, Chief Executives of Oil Marketing Companies, Chief Executives of Telecommunication companies and Heads of the Security Services Sports Association (SEESA).
Other stakeholders include; Directors of Sports in the various tertiary institutions and state corporations, Director of Sports, Ghana Education Service (GES), and Presidents of the Sports Federations under the National Sports Authority (NSA).
Speakers invited to the Conference include:
1. Steward Masela, Managing Director of EXP, South Africa, who will speak on the topic ‘Measurement and Evaluation of Sports Sponsorship, a must for sponsors.
2. Olusegun Odegbame, Ex Nigerian Footballer and International Markerter, He will speak on the topic; Financing of Sports: viable options for Ghana.
3. Ali Nakyea Abdallah, Esq, Lecturer, GIMPA. Topic: Need for legal Regime for Sports Financing in Ghana: Matters Arising.
Notable Sports personalities invited include: Azumah Nelson, Ghana Boxing legend, Francis Dodoo, Chairman of Ghana Olympic Committee and Athletics legend, Kwesi Nyantakyi – President Ghana Football Association, Tony Baffoe, Ex-Black Stars player among many others.
