An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced an unemployed man to a fine of 600 penalty units, equivalent to GH₵7,200.00, over the theft of electrical devices valued at GH₵10,500.00, belonging to one Mr Robert Mills. 

In default, Adolf Kosah, aged 25, would spend eight months in prison in hard labour. 

Kosah had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit a crime, unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage to a door valued at GH₵2,000.00 and stealing of the gadgets. 

His alleged accomplice, Benjamin Botchwey, alias Atta Armarh, aged 31, a driver who denied conspiring with Kosah to steal the items was granted a GH₵70,000.00 bail with three sureties, two to be civil servants. 

He is to make his next appearance in court on October 2, 2023. 

Meanwhile, one Daniel Kwadwo alleged to have taken part in the crime is currently on the run. 

Police Chief Inspector Benson Benneh told the Court presided over by Mrs Evelyn Asamoah that Mr Mills, a businessman, is the complainant, residing at Tesano, a suburb of Accra.  

Kosah, he said, is unemployed as Botchwey is a cabbie, both living at Korle Gonno, Accra.  

Chief Inspector Benneh said Kwadwo is a trader, who dealt in electronic devices at Kwame Nkrumah Circle and he is currently at large.  

He said on June 23, 2023, the complainant and his family left home for Church and while away, Botchwey drove Kosah, the convict in his blue and yellow Chevrolet Matiz taxi cab with registration number GC-6106-21 to the complainant's house at Tesano.  

The prosecution said Kosah forced open the metal gate fixed on the complainant's house and entered whilst Botchwey kept watching to ensure they were not caught.  

The Court heard that Kosah went further to break into the complainant's living room through the kitchen door and stole one 55-inch NASCO LED television set, one Dell Laptop computer and one Amazon electronic tablet all valued at GH₵10,500.00 and bolted.  

Chief Inspector Benneh said the complainant returned home and noticed the theft of his belongings in a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage and reported the matter to the Police.  

Intelligence gathered led to the arrest of Kosah and Botchwey and they admitted the offence, which led Police to retrieve the 55-inch NASCO LED TV and Amazon electronic tablet which the complainant identified as his, the Court heard.  

He said efforts were underway to arrest their accomplice for further investigation.
