A new airline that will bridge the gap between equatorial Guinean’s capital Malabo and Accra, was greeted with cheers and applause at the airport, Friday.
The new airline, Cronos Airline will be flying from Accra to Malabo twice in a week and hopes to increase its frequency with increasing traffic.
Ghana’s aviation industry continues to receive many international airlines with increasing volume of traffic.
The airport has also seen some positive reforms in recent times including the cutting of a sod for the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) terminal three development as well as the 20 percent reduction in aviation fuel prices.
The new airline was welcomed at the airport with a colorful short ceremony, the occasion was also graced with the presence of the Equatorial Guinea ambassador to Ghana.
The ambassador said he hopes the new airline will enhance the trade relations between Ghana and his country.
The Chief Operating Officer of the airline, Georges Kaiafas in an interview said, “Ghana has done a lot in terms of aviation and is an example to many countries in Africa so I think Ghana has a head step of many African countries."
Cronos Airline, for now, flies Accra directly to Malabo and will subsequently extend its flight to Duala.
