Dansoman-based D Wise XI FC clinched the first-ever Thomas Partey Tournament title, defeating Koowa-Naso 4-3 in a dramatic penalty shootout at the Tuba Astroturf Park in Accra.
The four-day event, which was held from December 2 to December 5, 2024, featured 12 youth teams from across Ghana, aiming to showcase their talent to scouts from eight European clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea.
The tournament, organised by the Thomas Partey Foundation and JJ Sports Managers, is set to become a permanent fixture in Ghana's football calendar.
The final match saw D Wise XI FC and Koowa-Naso locked in a tense battle, culminating in penalties.
D Wise XI FC held their nerve to secure victory and write their names into the tournament’s history books.
The event offered young players a unique opportunity to perform on an international stage, with scouts from Europe observing their every move.
CEO of JJ Sports Managers and agent of Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, Jose Daniel Jiminez expressed his delight at the level of talent on display.

“All the players worked hard, and I’m very impressed with what I saw,” he said.
Emilio Rodriguez, also from JJ Sports, praised the tournament’s quality and its role in providing opportunities for young footballers.
“The level was very high, and we saw a lot of things we liked. This tournament is vital because it creates opportunities to bring a lot of talent to Europe. It’s not just about one or two players but many more who are good enough,” he said.
Public Relations Officer for Thomas Partey, Samuel Ziga, explained the tournament’s mission to nurture talent while giving back to the community.
“The aim is to harness talent and give back to society. It’s been an incredible four-day tournament. The players displayed great skill, intensity, and passion, which impressed scouts and organisers alike,” Ziga said.
He also revealed plans to expand the tournament.
“We are looking to host it twice every calendar year to provide even more players with opportunities to showcase their abilities,” he added.
With its emphasis on youth development and community spirit, the Thomas Partey Tournament promises to be a major highlight in Ghanaian football, paving the way for young talents to achieve their dreams.
