The Dada Foundation-Ghana has launched a GH¢5 million maternity project for the Atua Government Hospital in Krobo Odumase, in the Eastern Region.

The proposed 20-bed maternity block, to be constructed on an approximately 720-square-metre area of land, will be equipped with modern, world-class facilities to enhance maternal and child healthcare at the hospital.

The facility will include a laboratory, triage and reception areas, delivery ward, lying-in ward, theatre, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), nurses’ station, storerooms, and kitchenettes.

Under the Dada Legacy Projects, the Foundation aims to build similar healthcare facilities in other deprived communities across the country — all in honour of the life and impact of Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn, Founder and Chancellor of Wisconsin International University College, Ghana.

Project Motivation

Having worked with health professionals and medical institutions over the years, the Foundation has expressed deep concern about the many communities that still lack well-equipped maternity facilities — one of the biggest barriers to reducing maternal mortality.

With the support of its banking partners, OmniBSIC Bank, the Foundation intends to raise the GH¢5 million required for the project over the next 12 months, after which construction will begin.

So far, it has raised more than GH¢500,000 in support of the project, which is expected to bring relief to thousands of pregnant women within the Atua Hospital catchment area.

Dada Legacy Awards

The launch of the maternity project in Accra coincided with the inaugural Dada Legacy Awards, where Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn received the ultimate award for his remarkable leadership, selfless service, and impact on national and continental development.

Other notable awardees included Former First Lady Lordina Mahama, Founder of the Lordina Mahama Foundation; Dr. Akosua Dzifa Hagan, Registrar of the Lutheran Theological Seminary; Mr. Stephen Ameyaw, Founder and CEO of Shrinq Limited; Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, Founder of Engineers and Planners; and Ghana West Africa Medical Mission Inc.

They were honoured for their outstanding contributions to health, education, business innovation, and philanthropy.

Delivering the keynote address, Nana Addae Gyamera I, Chief of Feyiase in the Ashanti Region, described Dr. Fynn as “a shining example of leadership, compassion, and service whose legacy continues to inspire generations.”

In his remarks, Dr. Fynn emphasised the importance of service over material wealth, stating that “material possessions are vanity; the key is serving the people.”

The Acting Executive Director of the Dada Foundation, Mr. Jacob Fynn, appealed to Corporate Ghana and individuals to support the fundraising campaign to ensure the successful construction of the maternity facility at Atua Government Hospital.
