Deborah Acquah has set a new national record of 6.89m (+0.07) in the women’s long jump and is currently ranked number one on the continent and the world.
Deborah’s latest mark improves her previous national record of 6.81m set at the LSU Gold meeting in April 2021 minutes after breaking Ruky Abdulai’s 14-year-old national record from 2007 in the United States.
Deborah Acquah has therefore qualified for this year’s World Athletics Championships, Commonwealth Games, Africa Games and World University Games.
In August 2019, Acquah competed at the 2019 African Games in Rabat and won a silver medal for Ghana with a jump of 6.37m in the Women’s Long Jump.
In January 2020, her 21-foot six-inch-long jump broke a 22-year school record by four inches at the Ted Nelson Invitational.
Also, in February 2020, she broke the Texas A&M triple jump record to win first place at the Charlie Thomas Invitational.
Deborah Acquah, 24, is currently studying at Texas A&M University and has broken her national record for a third time in less than a year.
Her NCAA-leading mark of 22-7.25/6.89m (w/0.7) is also second best in Aggie history.
