Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture Yaw Frimpong Addo is encouraging international investors to take advantage of the friendly business regime in Ghana and invest in the country’s agricultural sector.

Speaking at the ‘Ghana Dealroom’ session during the 2023 Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF) in Dar es Salam Tanzania, he said; “government is consciously giving incentives to agribusinesses in Ghana. Everything agriculture, the government is giving special incentives on.”

The Deputy Minister who is also the Manso Adubia MP said; “Mechanisation receives full government support in terms of tax waivers and other incentives that we grant.”

Mr Frimpong Addo assured potential investors Ghana also has a good agricultural climate, extraordinary hospitality, and stable peace.

“We are telling investors that when you come, these are the things you will enjoy in Ghana to have a successful take off in any investment in agriculture. And people are happy with it because you can't have it in any other country,” he said.

The Agribusiness Dealroom, a major segment of the AFSF, is a matchmaking platform that convenes stakeholders to facilitate partnerships and investments in African agriculture. It specifically supports governments and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with access to finance and partnership opportunities.

Organised by AGRA, the AFSF is the world’s annual premier forum on African agriculture and food systems, bringing together stakeholders to take practical action and share lessons that will move African food systems forward. It was previously known as the Africa Green Revolution Forum (AGRF).

The Ghana Dealroom attracted international private sector actors, donor organisations, and a number of industry players.

“I’m so excited because of the contribution of those who participated in the program. It is going to enrich what we are doing back home,” Mr Frimpong Addo said.

“We have lots of opportunities back home and the people are buying into it. People
want more information… And that is exciting. I am grateful to AGRA for this Dealroom,” he added.

Ghana country manager of AGRA Juliette Lampoh said the conversations at the Dealroom event will result in positive outcomes.

“I am happy about the opportunities that were showcased… It is the beginning of great things that will happen…. We will follow up with the contacts that were made,” she said.
