The leadership of Diaspora Patriots in Ghana Foundation (DPG) has called on the MP-elect for Amasaman constituency, Akwasi Afrifa-Mensa to congratulate him on his victory.
At the meeting, the DPG team held had post-election discussions with regards to a review of the collaborative efforts between the group and the Constituency Campaign Team, which contributed to flipping the seat, the only such flip to the NPP in the Greater Accra Region.
They also held preliminary discussions about the way forward in terms of further collaboration between the Constituency Leadership and DPG, to maintain the seat for the NPP.
While sharing some of his experiences on the campaign trail, Mr Afrifa-Mensa indicated that his desire to serve is one borne out of love and passion he has for humanity.
He thanked DPG for their immense support and love showed him through the adoption of the Amasaman Constituency.
"But for the work and support of DPG, my victory would not have been possible, perhaps," he said.
The Chairman of DPG, Prince Ofosu Sefah, who is also the Deputy Director General (Operations) at the National Communications Authority, expressed his joy at the victory attained by Hon. Afrifa-Mensa and pledged the continual support of DPG towards the development of the Constituency.
According to him, "DPG is a young Foundation made up of Ghanaians who lived abroad and have now returned home to contribute our quota to the development of our Nation. We also believe in the capability of the New Patriotic Party to lead this Nation best".
Chairman Sefah said he expects DPG to adopt the Amasaman Constituency again as well as adopt or simply support more Constituencies, based on his organisation's capacity.
Indeed, he mentioned that DPG supported 18 other Constituencies during the just-ended 2020 Elections, providing various logistical and/or financial help to them.
He urged the MP-Elect to keep his promises, remain humble, accessible and hardworking as well as eschew any form of bitterness and further unite the Leadership and Membership of the Constituency, to ensure that the NPP maintains a hold on the Amasaman Seat for a very long time.
The DPG Leadership present included the Vice-Chairman - Baffour Dr. K.A. Adanse-Pipim, the Secretary - Mr. Ernest Ampong, the Women's Organiser - Madam Bernice Adjei (who is also the Deputy Director-General of MDPI), the Treasurer - Mr. Eric Amofa Jr., the Communications Director - Hajia Nana Fatima High, the Deputy Women's Organiser - Madam Margaret Oppong, DPG Patron and MD of National Investment Bank - Mr. Sam Sarpong, Former NPP Canada 1st Vice Chairman - Mr. Chris Akyempon, as well as a few other Patrons and Members, later joined the MP-Elect, the Constituency Chairman Michael Asante and some members of the Constituency Campaign Team.
