Derrick Sasraku, a player of R-Starke FC, a third-tier team in the Greater Accra Region has been banned one year for assaulting a match official.
His ban is not only applicable in Ghana and for GFA sanctioned matches but in any other football association in the world.
The decision to hand the player the suspension was reached by the Disciplinary Committee of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association.
Sasraku, who was charged with misconduct and violence in breach of Articles 35 of the GFA Regulations was reported to have used his elbow against an a player of Charity Stars during a league match.
He proceeded to punch assistant referee Mumuni Tahiru - who alerted the referee of his foul which led to his sending off - in the face until blood oozing from his mount and nose, leading to the abrupt end of the match.
Though he denied the charge, the Disciplinary Committee found him culpable by the evidence available.
The ban takes effect from the 14th day of March, 2014 to the 13th day of March, 2015.
In another ruling by the Disciplinary Committee of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association, Harrison Debrah has been handed a one-year suspension from playing in an GFA sanctioned match for double registration.
The player registered for Prestige Height FC, where he was captain for two seasons as Harrison Cobbina and signed for Lenient International FC as Harrison Debrah.
He was charged with misconduct for a breach of Articles 26 (3)(b) of the GFA Regulations.
