The number of commercial banks in Ghana could hit 30 by close of 2012 if the Bank of Ghana approves a number of applications for licences to establish universal banking operations in the country.Already the established banks, in spite of their numbers, are accused of failing to cater for the majority of the population. Will the coming numbers help to address the issue? Sydney Casely-Hayford, Business analyst and Investment Consultant and Menson Torkornoo, ex-Banker are convinced the numbers will not solve the problem, plus, there are so many things being done wrong that need correction. Bernard Nasara Saibu poses the questions.
