Manchester United have agreed a £65 million deal with Real Madrid for winger Angel Di Maria, Goal understands.
Goal reported on Saturday that United had made a breakthrough in their attempts to bring the 26-year-old to Old Trafford, with the player having decided that he wanted to join the Premier League club.
And with talks between the two sides having accelerated in the last 24 hours, Di Maria has now arrived in Manchester and is expected to agree personal terms and complete a medical on Tuesday.
Goal understands that Louis van Gaal's side will offer Di Maria a wage packet that will eclipse Wayne Rooney's £300,000-per-week deal, including the Argentine's £5m signing-on fee and additional bonuses.
United will pay Madrid a British record fee in the region of £65m, including add-ons, for the former Benfica star, surpassing the £50m that Chelsea shelled out to Liverpool to take Fernando Torres to Stamford Bridge in 2011.
Goal revealed back in July that an agreement between the Premier League club and Real Madrid was close and Ancelotti confirmed on Sunday that Di Maria had said his goodbyes ahead of a move to Manchester.
Di Maria will add to the signings of Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Argentina international defender Marcos Rojo, who joined from Sporting Lisbon earlier in August.
As revealed by Goal, the deal for Di Maria, including bonuses, salary package and various other add-ons and bonuses, could surpass the £150m mark.
The 26-year-old, who fell down the pecking order at Madrid following the summer arrivals of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez, could go straight into the United squad for the Premier League meeting with Burnley on Saturday.
