A driver’s mate, Atukwei Quaye, who sexually abused a 13-year-old girl at Chorkor after threatening her with a knife has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.
Quaye charged with defilement was found guilty by the court presided over by Justice Rita Abrokwah-Doko at the end of the trial.
Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire told the court that the complainant was an undertaker and a father of the victim.
According to Mr Atimbire, the accused, the complainant, and victim reside in the same family house at Chorkor, Accra.
He said on July 26, 2017, about 1000 hours Quaye managed to lure the victim into his room, threatened her with a kitchen knife and forcibly had sex with her on a bed.
The prosecution said immediately after the act, the accused warned the victim not to tell anyone, and in spite of that the victim, frightened though, she informed her grandmother.
He said when the father of the victim heard of the incident, he took the victim to the Police Station where a report was made and a medical report form was issued to him to send the victim to the Hospital for medical examination.
The Prosecution said when the medical report was brought, it read “Hymen broken”.
The Police later arrested Quaye and in his cautioned statement denied the offence.
