After five hours of torrential rain on Tuesday dawn, areas along the Odaw drain and some parts of Accra were left flooded.
The affected places which include Odawna, Avenor, Dansoman, and Achimota had displaced residents counting their loses while other salvaged what was left of their properties.
One person was confirmed dead during a rescue mission near Odawna in the Klottey-Korley Constituency.
Many residents at Achimota were left stranded and had to seek shelter under the Achimota overpass.
In various drone shots taken by JoyNews after the downpour, the Odaw drain is seen flooded with some streets in the capital littered by all sorts of residue items washed away by the flood.
Officials from the National Disaster and Management Organization (NADMO) and the 48 engineers regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces say about 20 people have so far been rescued.
According to the personnel, efforts are still underway to ensure that displaced people receive some support.
