Pepsodent has launched another innovative and educative campaign dubbed 'Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late #TalkToADentist' as part of this year’s World Oral Health Day (WOHD) celebration.
The campaign aims to help raise awareness to ensure people understand the importance of acting early, from the moment a problem arises to avoid serious dental outcomes like tooth loss.
The campaign has drawn the attention of some Ghanaian celebrities including the seasoned award-winning actor, John Dumelo, top broadcaster and actor, Naa Ashorkor, Comic Personality, Kwame Oboadie among others have joined in to rally behind the social cause.
They took to their social media pages to post and share information to ensure people have the information on the need to visit the dentist early and regularly when they feel a pain in their tooth before it becomes serious to losing it.
This is against a backdrop of recent global research compiled by Pepsodent which reveals that in Ghana, four out of five people will have lost all their teeth by the age of 65 due to several reasons including dentist cost, unavailability of dentists among others.
Tooth loss has serious consequences affecting general health and wellbeing, quality of life, and economic and social opportunities.
Adults who have lost teeth have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease and are at risk of malnutrition, can experience sleep deficiency, be discriminated against, or suffer a loss of self-confidence and anxiety.
Having access to a dentist’s advice as soon as a problem arises is the most effective way to avoid serious dental outcomes like tooth loss.
#Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late #TalkToADentist campaign is a step in the right direction of urging all to prioritize oral health as it forms part of the overall health of each and every one.
