Joy FM and its partners have resolved to give to correctional facilities in the country every year after a successful donation at the Nsawam Prison and the Borstal Home on Sunday.
The donation to the correctional facilities located in Accra was made to mark Joy FM’s annual Easter Soup Kitchen.
Officials of the station, led by Programmes Director Kofi Ansah, donated items such as bags of rice, toiletries and other materials as part of the exercise.
Some of the partners, listeners and volunteers who accompanied us to the prisons said the donation to the facility was appropriate, he said.
They were moved by the appalling conditions at the two correctional centres. Some shed tears after a inmates sang to welcome them, Mr Ansah noted.
The situation at the Borstal Institute was not any different, where children between the ages of 12 to 21 are being kept for various offences.
There too the team spent time with the inmates and counseled them.
This facility also received some supplies including rice, oil and drinks.
