The Electoral Commission (EC) has fixed weekend of June 9 and 10, for biometric voters' registration mop-up exercise in selected registration centres across the country.A statement signed by Mr Christian Owusu-Parry, acting Director of Public Affairs of the EC, copied to Ghana News Agency in Accra on Thursday, said the mop-up was to give qualified applicants, who could not register during the 40 days registration exercise due to operational challenges the opportunity to register as voters in the affected registration centres. It said the various mop-up registration centres would be published in the media. The statement appealed to qualified applicants in the affected centres who had not yet registered to take note and avail themselves of the opportunity. However, the EC cautioned people, who had already registered as voters to avoid registering again since that would amount to double registration.“All cases of double registrations will be detected and the culprits will be dealt with in accordance with law,” the EC stated.
