The National Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita De Soso says Kwesi Nyantakyi has headed the Ghana Football Association for too long and therefore has to be replaced.
“Kwesi Nyantakyi has spent too many years at the GFA, he has to be changed.”
She was of the view that the number of years he has spent as GFA president has accounted for his lack of performance.
She made this statement on Adom FM’s morning show, 'Adom Dwaso Nsem' when she was asked to comment on the performance of the Black Stars during the World Cup.
The GFA, she added is the cause of all the troubles most ministers assigned to the Ministry of Youth and Sports have encountered during their period at the ministry.
The ministry is often a hotspot for controversy. Most noticeable was the mysterious disappearance of $125,000 meant for the Black Stars. Mallam Issah who was then Sports Minister was jailed.
Being in power for the past eight years Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi has successfully qualified the Black Star to three World Cup competitions including its maiden appearance in 2006.

He has however come under severe scrutiny after the Black Stars failed to make it out of the group stages during the 2014 World CUp ongoing in Brazil.
Ghana government caused huge international embarrassment after 3 million dollars was flown into Brazil on a chartered flight to pay a 100,000 dollar appearance fee to each of the 23 players and the technical team.
The GFA president also became a subject of a match-fixing scandal while in Brazil.
Anita De Soso was convinced that all the misfortunes that plagued the Ministry of Youth and Sports was due to incompetence and lack of accountability on the part of the GFA president and his administration.
It will be prudent for the media to give the Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah an opportunity to tell his side of the events that unfolded in Brazil before they make any conclusions, she added.
