A documentary on the 2013 "Election Petition" that enthralled Ghanaians (NPP) will be shown at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) this week.
"Election Petition", is a documentary thriller based on the true political story from the leading democracy in Africa, Ghana. It is the story of the massive legal challenge that was mounted to an election to elect the President of the country.
Ghana experienced a landmark ruling in an eight-month long prolonged tussle at the Supreme Court over the validity of the presidential results in the 2012 polls.
Producers of the documentary, SOAS and Spurs, will premiere the epic legal battle between President Nana Akufo-Addo, then NPP Flagbearer and the opposition National Democratic Congress; all about what you saw and what was hidden from public eye will be revealed in this documentary.
The documentary will be shown this Wednesday, January 24 at 7:20 pm.
His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the Guest of Honor for the premiere.
The 2012 election petition was done pursuant to the provisions of the national constitution.

It was filed by President Akufo-Addo, who was then the Presidential candidate for the NPP together with Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and the late Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, former NPP National Chairman.
They prayed the Court to declare their candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo as President with reasons that unpardonable malpractices and irregularities at 10,119 polling stations justified the nullification of 3,931,339 “invalid votes” which, they (petitioners) argued, would have beaten down John Mahama’s votes and overturned the declared results by the Electoral Commission.
But the nine panel Supreme Court in its ruling read by Justice William Atuguba upheld John Mahama as the constitutionally elected President.
The other justices who sat on the case included: Justices Julius Ansah, Sophia Adinyira, Rose Constance Owusu, Jones Victor Dotse, Anin Yeboah, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, N. S. Gbadegbe and Vida Akoto-Bamfo.
The Supreme Court further made some recommendations to the Electoral Commission for subsequent elections.
Although the then flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo disagreed with the Supreme Court’s ruling, he accepted it in good faith.
