Ghana’s Energy and Green Transition Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor, has held a “highly productive” meeting with executives of Chevron International Exploration and Production Limited on the sidelines of African Energy Week.
The discussions focused on strengthening investment, transparency, and governance within Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector.
Led by Chevron’s Director of Commercial, Chris Jablonski, the delegation explored opportunities to deepen collaboration, particularly in natural gas development.

According to Mr Jinapor, the government under President John Dramani Mahama is prioritising natural gas as a cleaner and more efficient alternative to liquid fossil fuels.
“We are committed to reducing Ghana’s overreliance on liquid fossil fuels by prioritising gas as a cleaner, more cost-effective, and efficient energy source,” he said.
Mr Jinapor further stressed the administration’s commitment to investor confidence, assuring Chevron of a stable and transparent investment climate.

“President Mahama remains unwavering in his resolve to restore confidence in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector through sound policies and a clear regulatory framework,” he added.
Chevron’s team included Gavin Lewis, Head of Chevron Exploration; Mamadou Blondin, Vice President for Middle East & Africa Corporate Affairs; and Chris Fordham, Business Development Manager.
Both parties expressed optimism about building stronger partnerships to support Ghana’s energy transition and long-term economic growth.
