The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has refuted claims of an ongoing shortage of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) fuel in Ghana, assuring the public and airlines that adequate supplies are available for all aircraft operations.
In a statement issued on Thursday, July 24, 2025, the Ministry noted that recent reports of an ATK shortage are false and should be disregarded. It stressed that there is no cause for alarm as sufficient fuel stock is in place to meet operational needs.
“Recent maintenance work was completed on the ATK jetty pipeline to enhance fuel security. This was long overdue, and any delays would have posed risks to the integrity of the jetty and the country’s fuel security,” the statement said.

The Ministry disclosed that Ghana recently received an ATK vessel carrying 11,984 metric tons (MT) of fuel. Of this amount, 4,583 MT have already been successfully discharged to PWSL within the last two days. The remaining stock is being discharged to the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and Ridge Depots via the TOR Jetty, with completion expected by midday on Friday, July 25, 2025.
Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Richard Gyan-Mensah, has also engaged key stakeholders in the downstream petroleum sector and the management of the Ghana Airport Company Limited to ensure a steady fuel supply.
The Ministry reassured all stakeholders and the general public that there is no shortage and urged everyone to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.
