The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals, including two ministers of state.

In a statement released on Thursday, August 7, the Commission described the accident as a heartbreaking loss for the nation and extended condolences to the families affected, the President, and all Ghanaians.

“The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission is deeply saddened by the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight distinguished individuals,” the statement read.

“This includes Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.”

Addressing the bereaved families, the Commission said, “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. May you find strength and comfort in the memories of your loved ones, who served Ghana with dedication and passion. May their legacy live on, and may their souls rest in eternal peace.”

To President John Dramani Mahama, the Commission offered its support and solidarity: “We offer our sincerest condolences to President John Dramani Mahama and the government of Ghana. We stand in solidarity with the nation during this difficult time and pray for the Almighty to grant you and the bereaved families the strength to navigate this tragedy.”

The FWSC also acknowledged the grief of the general public, describing the tragedy as a national loss that has affected all Ghanaians.

“We mourn with the people of Ghana, acknowledging the immense loss this tragedy has brought upon our nation. May we come together to support each other and honour the memories of the departed.”

The statement concluded with a call to remember the contributions of those who died in the crash.

“May the souls of the deceased rest in peace, and may their contributions to Ghana’s development be remembered for generations to come.”
