Hundreds of fans, many of them Glo subscribers, thronged selected Gloworld shops in Accra and Kumasi to meet Glo brand ambassadors.
Fans and admirers of the ambassadors from all walks of life trooped into the shops to meet and interact with their idols.
In a new move intended to bring the network’s brand icons closer to subscribers and customers, Glo ambassadors took turns to attend to visitors at three selected Gloworld shops in Accra.
They also chatted and took photos with as many subscribers who wished to record memories of their encounters with the stars.
Yvnonne Nelson, the velvety-voiced actress was at the Osu Gloworld shop on Monday and had many fans trooping in to meet her.
Van Vicker received fans and customers at the Ring Road Gloworld on Tuesday.
Wednesday was a shocker for the sultry actress, Jackie Appiah, as she was practically mobbed by fans who had been waiting for her arrival at the Ring Road Gloworld shop.
At the Accra Central Gloworld shop, Nadia Buari had the same experience with streams of fans and visitors who came to meet her.
Among the subscribers who came to meet Jackie at the Ring Road, Accra Gloworld shop were Mr Emery Junior and his lovely wife, Chimene both nationals of Central African Republic (CAR) but resident in Ghana.
By some stroke of luck, Wednesday 29th happened to be the birthday of the wife, Chimene and they just took advantage of the presence of Jackie to meet their screen diva and have photos with her to mark the day. Both husband and wife admitted that it was a unique opportunity for them to meet Jackie Appiah on such a memorable day.
From Nigeria, Franklin Okechukwu flew into Ghana just to meet Jackie, because “she is a screen goddess I adore so much and I had been dying to meet her. Glo just provided the opportunity for this to happen.”
In Kumasi last Tuesday and Wednesday, fans thronged the Gloworld shop at Adum to catch a glimpse of Jackie Appiah, update their SIM records or purchase new SIMs and recharge cards.
Some of them went home with mouth-watering gifts and freebies just for being at the shop at the right time to meet Jackie.
In all, it was an opportunity to create a bond with fans of the ambassadors. Many of the fans who are already on the Glo network took time to update their SIM records.
While others picked up Glo SIMs in order to enjoy the benefits the network delivers through its star products, Three Minutes to Free and Twin Bash.
Glo Three Minutes To Free is a new product which allows a subscriber to make a minute call to any network and thereafter make free calls on the network throughout the day.
With Twin Bash, a subscriber gets six times the benefit when he/she recharges data on the line and gets both 200% data and 400 % airtime to call friends on any network in Ghana.
A statement from Glo expressed satisfaction with the exercise and the resolve of the company to create a bigger bond between the Glo ambassadors and their fans.
It promised that similar initiatives will continue to find expression in the company's consumer engagement activities.
