Am I fashionable? I’m sure you have asked yourself this question even if once. So what was your answer, yes or no? I’m not a fashion mogul but I think it’s a little more than that.
The last time I wrote about fashion was in 2011 about the changing trends with time. FASHION TRENDS: YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMORROW. Well this time around I will attempt to get personal (lol).
A lot goes into identifying yourself as fashionable or not. I do not think it is just the way you dress, it’s more, it’s who you are, how you are and why you’re you. Fashion is about your personality. Does it mean if you have a dull, boring, glum or dark personality you’re ruled out? Oh come on! Let’s give ourselves a break. Once in a while we fall in this category. Personality is key, but more importantly how you make it work.

How should you make it work? Create or follow. You choose which crowd you want to belong to. And in fact there is nothing wrong if you follow trends. I never thought myself fashionable or interested in anything fashion at some point in my life (not saying I do now.lol).
I always avoided making or touching up, wearing fitting clothes, showing some skin, heck I wouldn’t even do any lip gloss. My reasons? Can you stomach them? Ahh! Let’s just say I was a shy girl getting to know herself. Know yourself and what’ll work for and do your thing!
There is a danger though in creating your own fashion trends. You need to watch out not to get it wrong and end up looking like a clown (and even worse is walking around feeling like a king when everyone else is having a good laugh).
Oh and for the record it does matter how you look. It is God who looks at the heart and not the appearance! I associate looking good with feeling good and the inverse.(get it?)
Oh let’s get back to the conversation, shall we. The creativity and ability to make a fashion statement as they call it could be innate or learned but it doesn’t just come to you. Years of practice, trial and error- is very necessary. Go on and try try try, even when you get it wrong and go haywire. Make room for mistakes and have fun with it. In addition solicit views of friends, relatives, whoever has good taste.
So with all this yapping by yours truly, a good question is, how do you know you got it? You’ll never know. But I will attempt an answer. You got it if you genuinely feel good.
