The Western Regional Directorate of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has safely disposed of 1.5 metric tonnes of seized goods at the landfill site in Sofokrom.
Principal Officer Francis Edem Odum said the post-market surveillance led to the seizure of non-compliant, substandard, falsified, and expired products.
The seized goods, worth 100,000 cedis, were only for the third quarter of the year 2025.

Mr. Odum urged manufacturers to register their goods with the Authority while encouraging retailers to demand proper documentation from manufacturers.
He advised them to always check constantly to avoid expired products on their shelves.
Mr Odum added, "Always look out for the registration certificate for both local or imported goods".
The Principal Officer said there were administrative and spot fines coupled with prosecution in some cases, and advised manufacturers to do the right things in the supply chain.

He said the FDA would continue with its post-market surveillance duties to safeguard the health of consumers.
The Public Relations Officer of the Western Regional FDA, Solomon Kwabena Boni, said the public health mandated the Authority to undertake such exercises to protect the health of the consumer.
He said the "Love Your Health" campaign by the Authority would work around massive education and sensitization to safeguard the health of the public.
