World football's governing body, FIFA is set to extend the construction deadline for three of Brazil's 12 World Cup 2014 venues.
Stadiums in the cities of Cuiaba, Sao Paulo and Curitiba are likely to be given until the end of February to be ready, FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke indicated Tuesday, reports Xinhua.
"Curitiba is the one where we are facing the most problems and won't be delivered before the end of February 2014," Valcke told a press conference at Costa do Sauipe, the venue for Friday's World Cup draw.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter said a new report confirmed Sao Paulo's Itaquerao stadium would not be delivered before Dec 31.
Work on the stadium resumed Monday following last week's death of two workers when a crane crashed into part of the stadium's facade, causing it to collapse.
Blatter said the delays did not jeopardise the stadiums' World Cup host status.
"There are some small delays in construction of stadia. But they are so small that with one exception (Sao Paulo) we can say everything is ready," Blatter said.
