About ninety former District Chief Executives (DCEs) under the NDC regime say they have been denied their End of Service Benefits (ESB). They say after seven and a half years since they left office, the government is yet to pay their ESBs. Speaking to Joy News, one of the affected former DCEs, Mr. Joseph Kobina said although the government said a forensic audit was being conducted and that former DCEs found to have engaged in financial malfeasance will be dealt with, charges were yet to be proffered against any of them He said in the absence of such charges he and his colleagues deserved to be paid for serving the nation. Responding to the concerns, the Deputy Local Government Minister, Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah said he was not aware that some of the former DCEs were not paid. He said about seventy of them had been referred to the Attorney-General’s office for action. That means such people have cases to answer as determined by the auditors. Asked why the people had not been prosecuted as intimidated by a former Deputy Interior Minster, Captain Nkrabea Effah Dartey, Mr. Jumah said the cases had been bogged down at the AG’s department.
