The chairman of the Black Starlets Management Committee Fred Crentsil says the team is focused on booking a place at next year’s CAN 2013 championship.
The national under-17 team is expected to leave Accra for South Africa on Tuesday for the first leg of the final round of qualifier against South Africa.
This will be the team’s first appearance in the qualifiers after advancing to the next stage without kicking a ball following Gambia’s withdrawal.
“The Black Starlets have been in camp for a while now and also went on training tours to the Western and Central Regions and also gone through the MRI Scan and I believe we have a very good team,” Fred Crentsil told JOY Sports in an interview.
“We have done everything in terms of motivation and I believe the coaches have done a very good job and looking at the team I’m optimistic they will go places. This is s a very young team, with the right ages and I can say that we have a future”.
The Ghana Under-17 male team has been impressive in warm-up friendlies and is expected to book qualification to the tournament which they missed out at the last edition.
The CAN 2013 championship will be hosted in Morocco next year.
