Organizers of the maiden edition of the National Startup Festival have announced plans to provide free exhibition opportunities for start-up entrepreneurs in the country.
The maiden edition of the National Startup Festival (NSF) which is expected to bring together some thousands of visitors and over 50 start-up entrepreneurs for networking, exhibitions, key-notes, workshops and awards is set to become the largest gathering of startup entrepreneurs, and startup eco-system leaders in the country.
Mr. Michael Ayirebi, Chief Executive of Stillwater Equity Partners, co-organizers of the 2015 NSF said the free exhibition is a major feature of this year’s show for strategic reasons. "Our aim is to show Ghanaian start-ups currently grappling with the high cost of marketing that there exist inexpensive promotion tools they can exploit," said Mr. Ayirebi.
Mr. Emmanuel Nyame of StartUp Cup Ghana also encouraged all Ghanaian start-ups looking to pitch for awesome rewards to do so by October 23, 2015 via www.ghana.startupcup.com/apply/
On the day of the event, shortlisted finalists will get to compete in the most intense StartUp Competition; the winner will be declared and awarded at a special awards ceremony in the evening. The winner will take home a ticket to participate in the World StartUp Cup competition in the United States of America early next year.
In addition to the free exhibition, entrepreneurs who have started their business will participate in free workshops with experienced business leaders in the country; participants also get to meet up with some successful entrepreneurs to discuss issues affecting startups in Ghana and the way forward. The plenary session will be led by renowned entrepreneurs such as Tony Senaya (Horseman Shoes), J. J. Segbefiah (Brave Hearts Expeditions), and Francis Obirikorang (Swappaholics) to mention just a few.
The free exhibition has been made possible through the support of Young Entrepreneurs Savings Fund (YES) Fund, a product of ASN Financial Services Ltd (ASN FSL) that helps start up entrepreneurs build capital for their businesses.
“It is estimated that 90% of new businesses fail within their first three years and ASN Financial Services Limited is supporting start-ups within the industry to avoid being part of the statistics. The growth of such SMEs is essential for the long term growth of this country" said Mr. Johannes Okutu Akuffo, CEO of ASN FSL.
