President of the Ghana Bar Association, Frank Beecham has expressed concern about the attacks on judges and the judiciary.
Mr. Beecham described the attacks as scurrilous, unwarranted, mischievous and uninformed.
According to him, lawyers are not an appendage of any political party and therefore would do anything to fight such attitudes.
He told Joy News he had drawn the attention of the Attorney General about various attacks on the judiciary.
He said sometimes people made comments over cases they know nothing about or have little idea about, citing the trial of the suspects in the murder of the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II.
“Take the Ya-Na case which Justice Ayirebi tried, on the basis of the evidence before him he could not convict. They haven’t understood why he did that work and went to court to blast him, threatening his life,” he stated.
He assured the Chief Justice and Deputy Attorney General that lawyers would play their role to ensure recourse to delay tactics in handling cases relating to election disputes are resolved as possible.
