A seven-day state of mourning has been declared, where all residents in Hohoe are to dress in red or black attire during the period to show their bereavement.
All flags are also to fly at half-mast, while a book of condolence has been opened for him at premises of the Hohoe Traditional Council.
Divisional Chief of Gbi Wegbe, Togbe Keh XII, announced the death of the adored Paramount Chief at a press conference in Hohoe.
“Togbega Gabusu VI took ill a few months ago. He had quality medical treatment and attention both home and abroad but to no avail, the time has come now for the Gbis to officially inform all and sundry that His Royal Highness Togbega Gabusu VI has gone to the village to join his ancestors”, he said.
He stated that funeral arrangements would be announced in due course, adding that the Divisional Chief of Gbi-Kpeme, Togbe Wode VI, would assume the position of acting President of the Gbi Traditional Council until a new Paramount Chief is installed.
