The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has cautioned the public against a fraudulent message circulating on social media, which claims the government has introduced a GH¢1,350 National Family Support Allowance.
In a statement issued on Thursday, January 8, the MoGCSP said it has not launched any programme known as the “National Family Support Allowance,” nor has it opened registration for any such payment under the directive of President John Mahama or the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey.
The Ministry described the announcement as false and misleading, stressing that no social protection programme offering GH¢1,350 over a three-month period exists under its mandate.
It also warned that the website link being shared alongside the message is not an official Government of Ghana or MoGCSP platform.
According to the Ministry, all legitimate social protection initiatives are announced through verified government channels, including official press releases, press conferences, the Ministry’s website, and accredited media outlets.
The MoGCSP has therefore advised the public to disregard the message entirely and avoid clicking on the link or submitting personal information, warning that it may be part of an attempt to defraud unsuspecting citizens.
For accurate and up-to-date information on government social protection programmes, the Ministry urged the public to rely on its official website, www.mogcsp.gov.gh, and its verified social media pages on Facebook, Instagram and X.
