The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released GH¢15,849,920 nationwide to cover the payment of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) practical fees for Form three learners.
The move, according to GES, was aimed at ensuring that all schools were adequately resourced for the upcoming practical examinations.
A press statement signed and issued by the Head of Public Relations at the GES Daniel Fenyi, explained the released funds would cover the provision of necessary materials and essential resources required to conduct the practicals smoothly.
The statement emphasised government’s commitment to reducing the financial burden on parents and guardians, while allowing students to concentrate fully on their academic preparation.
“With the release of the funds, GES seeks to facilitate a smooth and well-coordinated examination process that enables students to focus on their academic work, while relieving parents and guardians of any such financial burden,” the statement read.
The statement charged regional, district and school authorities to ensure the due application of the funds for their intended purpose to guarantee efficiency and accountability.
“Management will continue to monitor the utilisation processes to ensure compliance and to maintain high standards in the administration of the examination,” it stated.
The statement said the GES appreciated the cooperation of all stakeholders in advancing quality education and remained dedicated to creating an enabling environment for the success of all students.
