The Ghana Education Service says it is investigating a directive to pupils of the Nkwantanan D. A. Primary School at Madina in Accra to bring used water sachets to school. Joy News checks reveal the school sells the plastic waste collected by the pupils. The children have been put in groups and the group that brings the most, empty sachets gets extra marks. The Deputy Director General of the GES Stephen Adu told Joy News the service has not sanctioned such a money-making venture. He said the investigation will seek to establish whether instructional hours were misused or if the children were used for child labour. Mr Adu assured the authorities will be sanctioned if any rules are found to been violated. Source: Joy News/Ghana
