The Ghana Football Association has been given the all-clear to go ahead with the declaration of promoted and demoted teams for next season's Premier League after a Tema High Court dismissed a suit filed by a fan of Tema Youth.
Supporter Daniel Rockson had wanted the court to overturn a decision by the Review Committee of the GFA, which confirmed that the club had used Emmanuel Clottey when he was unqualified to play.
The ruling meant a six-point deduction from Tema Youth's accumulated points and relegation by extension.
The presiding judge Justice P.B Ofei said the fan was no official member of Tema Youth.
Football clubs in Ghana are not allowed to seek redress in the law courts under the statutes of the GFA. But clubs have found a clever means of going by it often with fans filing suits on their behalf.
The same fan of Tema Youth is now asking the Supreme Court of Ghana to pave the way for club sides seek legal action on their own.
The October 4 start date for the Ghana Premier League took a knock as a result of the legal proceedings, but the GFA has now set a tentative date for the commencement of the season.
