A board member of Accra Great Olympics Fred Pappoe, has backed veteran goalkeeper Richard 'Olele' Kingston to succeed at the club.
The former Black Stars goalkeeper signed a one-year deal with the Accra-based club earlier this month. Kingston's return to Olympics completes a cycle to the club where he came to national attention in the early1990s.
His move to Olympics has generated talk among some fans who believe the veteran goalkeeper is finished in terms of his ability to play.
But Fred Pappoe, a key official at the club has no doubt about Olele’s capabilities in post.
“I don’t need to tell anybody anything I believe when Richard Kingston starts doing the job his performance will speak for itself because if you look at the just ended Nations Cup tournament we had goalkeepers like Ovono of Gabon and the likes who were keeping at the time 'Olele' was keeping,” he told Joy Sports
“So Richard Kingston is on a crusade to tell Ghanaians he is not over the hills yet. I'm sure once he starts keeping the post for Olympics Ghanaians will see him for who he is.”
Kingston is making a return to the Ghana league since 1996 when he left to pursue a career in Turkey.
