The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan is urging Ghanaians to be proud in the Ghana Police Service, because it is one of the best services one can find in the world.
He said the police administration has embarked on robust reforms and restructuring of the service "in view of providing more efficient and better quality service to Ghanaians".
Mr Alhassan remarked about the current status of the service saying "so far so good, but we are not there yet".
The Inspector General of Police has been addressing various leaders in the Northern Region on Friday as part of a nationwide tour to ensure that police officers are prepared ahead of the Supreme Court verdict.
Mr Alhassan also called on police personnel in the region to work together to get rid of personnel in the Service who are giving the Police Service a bad image.
He emphasized that the administration is committed and determined to restore the "enviable image" of the Ghana Police Service in years past which attracted many including himself to join the Service.
Nevertheless, he maintained, "I dare say that we (police) are among the best anywhere in the world".
Mr Alhassan began his tour in the Greater Accra Region where he called on various leaders and institutions such as the national Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu and the Christian Council of Ghana.
In a related development, the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Most Rev. Professor Emmanuel Asante is urging the media to be more cautious and disallow politicians who want to use their platforms to incite violence.
He told Joy News the media must perform its watchdog role to nip any form of violence in the bud as the nation awaits the verdict of the Supreme Court.
