Tigo Ghana at the 5th Ghana Telecom Awards held over the weekend picked up 3 awards: Innovative product of the Year for Tigo Music, CSR Company of the Year, and the CEO, Roshi Motman, was acknowledged as one of the female trail blazers in the telecom industry.
Dedicating the award to her team, Roshi Motman, said 2014 was an exciting year for the company as it repositioned itself to recapture lost grounds and become more appealing to Ghanaians.
“2014 saw us doing things more differently; we put more emphasis on our people and their development, responding to customer needs became even more paramount, and investments into the network infrastructure was essential”, she explained.
Tigo Music has undoubtedly evolved to become one of the finest examples of a seamless connection between product and experience. The product is a partnership with global music streaming service, Deezer; through pre-paid data bundles Tigo customers can enjoy unlimited music around the world including Ghanaian artistes. The experiential include the annual Tigo Music Concert – Unplugged and the numerous sponsorship of music related events across the country.
On the CSR front, Tigo’s Changemakers, a team of 13 young Ghanaian entrepreneurs continued to work tirelessly in deprived communities across the country to improve the lives of children. Tigo Community Champions initiative also responded to the needs of over 20 communities including the refurbishment of the Maternity Ward for the Tafo Government Hospital, the provision of water to the Dawurampong community, Solar panels to connect Ahabaso Community to electricity and the handing over of an Ambulance to the Afife community just to mention a few.
In all Tigo had 9 nominations including Customer service, Marketing Campaign for Drop that Yam and Operator of the Year. The Ghana Telecom Awards is designed to celebrate the continuous growth and success of telecom industry by acknowledging exceptional and innovative performers.
