Sellas Tetteh has praised his Ghana U20 players for their strong mentality at the 2013 African Youth Championship.
The Black Satellites picked one of the four FIFA U20 World Cup qualification tickets after a 2-0 win over hosts Algeria on Friday to finish second in Group A.
"It is not like we played against a bad team in Algeria. Not at all. The only difference was that we were tactically slightly better at this level," Tetteh said at a post-match conference.
"The early goal helped us and we settled down and we were able to build from that.
Tetteh has likened his current players to the set-up which conquered Africa at the 2009 championship in Rwanda.
"This is just like the previous edition when we lost the first match against Cameroon but we still qualified, it shows we have character as a team.
"We look forward to the semi-final now where it looks like we will play Mali and that should be an interesting encounter."
Ghana are chasing a fourth African Youth Championship title.
