Former Black Stars striker, Prince Opoku Polley believes appointing a local coach will be the end the woes of the Black Stars.
The FA have set a deadline of April to appoint a new coach for the Stars with opinions split on whether to go for a Ghanaian or stick with the expatriates.
Several media reports have emerged that former Black Stars player, Kwesi Appiah will be reappointed as the head coach of the Black Stars.
And the former Kotoko striker is rooting for such a decision.
Where our world qualifying matches has gotten to we will need some luck before we can qualify for the world cup in 2018,” he told Asempa Sports.
If we need to qualify for the world cup in Russia, will need the likes of Jose Mourinho to help us qualify but I strongly believe that we can support our own so he can help us develop our football locally.
In our days, when a coach invites players to the camp of the Black Stars, we will have close to six players from our local league joining the team at camp.
It is not late but let’s listen to what the government is saying because they are going to pay the coach every month so I believe appointing a local coach will help us develop our football.”
We saw what Kwesi Appiah did when he was appointed as the head coach of the team. He brought in some talented players but those players are gradually ageing so we need to replace and this can be done with a local coach.”
He was referred to as the “Prince of goals” due to his predatory instincts
