The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has overlooked Ghanaian referees for the African Cup of Nations scheduled for Gabon and Equatorial Guinea later this month.
Information pieced together by GNA Sports indicates that no Ghanaian referee made the list of 18 officials for the three-week competition that parades Africa’s best 16 teams.
The selected 21 official assigned with the duties of assistant referees for the tournament is also without a Ghanaian.
The information indicates that no Ghana official was able to make the cut for the tourney that has Ghana tipped among the favourites.
At the previous competition in Angola, 2010 where Ghana finished second after losing 0-1 to Egypt in the final, Haruna Ayuba, an assistant referee was the only Ghanaian official to make the grade.
