The Reverend Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, President of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach, on Tuesday called on Ghanaians to unite to fight against indiscipline and other social challenges that would deprive the country of desired success expected in this Jubilee Year. He said it was only when there was unity that the citizenry could fight the common enemy of poverty, corruption and selfish attitudes that retarded development. Rev. Tetteh, speaking at a press conference in Accra to share his sentiments on the spiritual significance of Golden Jubilee, said in the context of contemporary Ghana's 50th anniversary, Ghanaians should seize the opportunity of the unique occasion to show genuine love, reconciliation and tolerance for opposing views. "We must take advantage of this opportunity by first reflecting on the past to count our blessing of how far God has brought us from independence to date, from colonization to self-rule, from drought to prosperity, from military to democratic political dispensation." Rev. Tetteh said it behooved political leadership to lead the way bearing in mind the toil of the founding fathers of the land whose lives were inspired by solid Christian foundation. He said there was also the need for new orientation of the entire citizenry to reflect biblical connotations of the Jubilee Year which stood for restoration, refocus, hard work, redemption and repair. According to him, God had highly favoured Ghana this year and mentioned the oil discovery, performance of the national soccer team, the Black Stars, during and after the 2006 World Cup tournament and performance of the Under-17 team, Black Starlets in the ongoing FIFA World Cup Tournament in Korea, as demonstrations of divine blessings. Rev. Tetteh noted that such achievements should therefore signal Ghanaians to give God the full glory and lay good Christian foundation that would live a good legacy 50 years to come. He also expressed disappointment at the influx of foreign culture through the media and the increasing number of occult practices in the country. Rev. Tetteh therefore urged religious leaders to become good ambassadors and speak their minds out on issues confronting the country without reservations, since their contributions to nation building were crucial. He entreated political leaders to dedicate themselves to God and work hard to build upon the foundations laid by founding fathers. Rev. Tetteh, who is also an evangelist based in the United Kingdom is in the country to preach at a five-day crusade being hosted by the Hosanna Ministries International. The crusade would highlight contents of his book, "The Dangers of Offences", which underscores the impact of offences on individual lives.Source: GNA
