Ghanaians have been called upon to believe in themselves and their ability to perform creditably in all tasks assigned them without any tendency of inferiority complex or underperformance.
"Fifty years after we attained independence, the mental slave chains are still strong and firm on our minds. Ghana needs mental rebirth; moral regeneration and national cohesion."
Speaking at a press conference organised by Tomorrow Leaders, Ghana, a youth group, which has as its main aim inculcating the spirit of nationalism into the youth, Raymond Ablorh, Communications Director of the group, said without mental freedom there could be no meaningful political and economic development.
He said the nation was rich in natural resources and that it was pathetic that due to mismanagement the nation could not fully benefit from its resources and, therefore, had to fall on other nations and multinational corporate bodies for assistance.
He said “the greatest victory that the nation could achieve was to conquer our negative mentality, which had rendered us poor and helpless”.
The Communications Director said the youth in the country were not only interested in vandalism, hooliganism and everything associated with destruction but also were more than ready to play a meaningful role in the development of the nation.
Mr Ablorh urged the youth to hold the leaders of the nation accountable for their decisions and actions since they would be at the receiving end in some years to come if bad decisions were taken today.Source: GNA
