H.E. Mrs. Mona Quartey, Ambassador-Designate of Ghana to Italy, has arrived in Palermo, Sicily for a series of fruitful interactions and meetings with local stakeholders and representatives, together with Mr. Francesco Campagna, Honourary Consul of Ghana in the regional capital of the island.
The Ambassador-Designate met with the executives of the Ghanaian community in Palermo, introducing herself to them and listening to some of their concerns, covering issues ranging from high duties at the Tema port to illegal mining in parts of Ghana.

H.E. the Ambassador-Designate also observed an interactive exhibition by artists Francesco Bellina and Stefano Liberti on how climate crisis and social change are reshaping lives, economies, and memories of the Mediterranean. During the visit to the exhibition, the Ambassador-Designate had informal discussions with Mr. Leoluca Orlando, former mayor of Palermo and advocate of migrant rights.

On 15th December 2025, H.E. Mona Quartey and Honourary Consul Campagna observed a conference organized by Sicindustria, the largest local association of SMEs, focusing on the business and investment opportunities in the African continent. The Ambassador-Designate was able to interact with several key stakeholders of the region’s entrepreneurial and financial sectors, illustrating the limitless opportunities that Ghana offers to prospective investors.
