The Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) has inducted 59 Professional Engineers and one Professional Engineering Technologist, making a total of 60 Engineering Practitioners, at the 44th Induction ceremony held at the Engineering Centre, Roman Ridge, Accra, on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
Inducting the new Engineers, the President of GhIE, Ing. Kwabena Bempong reminded them that the induction was just the beginning of their professional journey, adding that they have entered a field that is dynamic, rewarding and filled with challenges that require creativity, resilience and determination.
“The world is changing, and with that change comes the demand for forward-thinking engineers who are prepared to take on new responsibilities with an innovative spirit. The Ghana Institution of Engineering will always be here to support you in your journey, lean on this institution for guidance, mentorship and collaboration. Together, we can continue to elevate the field of engineering in Ghana and make meaningful contributions to the betterment of our society”, Ing. Kwabena Bempong told the newly inducted engineers.
He administered the engineering pledge to the newly inducted engineers, to uphold the honour and dignity of the engineering profession and shall not advertise their work or merit in a self-laudatory manner, and in all these, have due regards for the safety of human life.
The Chairman, Membership Committee of GhIE, Ing. Dr. Patrick Amoah Bekoe, presenting the 60 Inductees who participated in the various Professional Engineering Examinations held in July/August, 2024, said, out of the 60 inductees, 30 were Civil Engineers, 11 Mechanical/Agric Engineers, 11 Chemical/Mining Engineers and 8 Electrical/Electronic Engineers. For the Professional Engineering Technologist Occupational Group, one candidate in the Civil Technical Division participated.
Providing a word of advice to the inductees, a Past President of GhIE, Ing. Leslie Alexander Ayeh, said the difference between the developed countries and the 3rd World countries is engineering.
He called on the new engineers not to be left behind, do research, and learn from their peers in other developed countries to deliver quality and sustainable infrastructure.
The programme was attended by the President-Elect of GhIE, Ing. Hesse Ludwig; Vice-President of GhIE, Ing. Sophia Abena Tijani; Chairman of Ghana Engineering Council, Ing. Dr. Kwame Boakye; the Registrar of Engineering Council, Ing. Isaac Bedu; Chair of Electrical Division, Ing. Ebenezer Ato Roberts; Chair of Chemical/Mining Division, Ing. Prof. Nana Yaw Asiedu; the former Executive Director of GhIE, Ing. David Kwatia Nyante; the Ag. Executive Director of GhIE, Ing. Samuel Magnus Asiedu; Executive Director of Institute of Engineering Technologies, Engr. Seth Ayim; Ing. Baison, and family members of inductees.
