The Service is also to accelerate the training of Emergency Medical Teams in all hospitals to ensure quality and timely management of clinical emergencies.

It is part of an initiative to expand access to such emergency services across the country.

The lack of fully trained and well equipped Emergency Medical Teams in all hospitals nationwide has been a major challenge to effective healthcare delivery.

The Ghana Health Service has also earmarked a drive to support and promote local initiatives to expand Community Emergency Transport System for pregnant women and children among others.

These were made known during a health service performance review in the Upper West Region recently.

Also discussed was the inadequate supply of some essential medicines and health commodities in some health facilities which affected quality service delivery and patient confidence.

In his speech, the Ghana Health Service Director General, Dr. Appiah Denkyira explained that consistent availability of essential medicines and supplies were a prerequisite for quality health care delivery hence more effort will made to integrate its Divisional Procurement Plans to implement schedule delivery of commodities.
