Police in Sussex, London are investigating the discovery of the body of a man allegedly in the undercarriage of a Ghana International Airline upon arrival at Gatwick Airport in West Sussex from Accra.
The dead man was said to have been found by engineers inspecting the aircraft after it landed at Gatwick from Accra on Thursday.
The grim discovery was made after the Ghana International Airline aircraft had discharged its flight number GU101, and police suspect the man might have attempted stowing away.
An airport spokesman said: "London Gatwick Airport is working closely with Sussex Police to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic incident."
Meanwhile GIA CEO, Mrs. Gifty Annan Myers has told Joy FM her company was yet to be contacted by the police but insisted the body was said to have been discovered after the flight had been discharged.
“The body was found after our flight,…after we have discharged our flight. It was found on the aircraft but not on our flight. There was no GIA pilot or GIA crew …If you have your people, your personnel on the aircraft at the time the body was found, then somebody would have been there to be interviewed, but when they get to the point where they want to talk to GIA, they will contact GIA. They haven’t yet done that…”
