West Africa's only double tier-league beach soccer leagues continues to defy the odds by cranking up the excitement levels.
League leaders Sunset Sports had their work cut out as they collected a cool three points and three goals without having to kick a ball in the ongoing CAL bank beach soccer Championship.
This was after the low lying Teshie United failed to turn up for their scheduled week 12 encounter.
Notwithstanding their fourth consecutive ''win'' the result only keeps the Champions at the top on goals difference from neighbors, Havedzi Mighty Warriors.
Indeed the high flying Havedzi Warriors from Keta ensured that they did not lose sight of the top, although they were made to work very hard by Wuo Gbee in a 10 goal thriller. A hat-trick by Kudadah Sampson coupled with a brace from Ahorlu Edem and a goal Alfred Torsu ensured Havedzi were 6-4 victors, despite Richard Osa also bagging a hat trick on the day.
Gulf Powers continued their ascendancy with another three points in the bag against Ada Assurance who have been sanctioned by the GBSA.
With a chunk of the games failing to come off, East Legon sharks and Dansoman served the fans with a block buster of a game, played at a blistering pace that saw both sides on the attack. With the lead swinging several times in the game, it was Matthew Lamptey who thought he had stolen the three points point for Dansoman with six minutes to play.
But late drama was to follow when Sharks captain Uriel Appienti added the final twist to the game with his third and fourth goals to end proceedings 5-4.
The result earned the Sharks their first win in as many games and also, proved sweet revenge having suffered defeat in similar circumstances in the first round.
In the division one, Golden eagles delivered a soccer punch to fellow promotion hopefuls Tema United, as they zoomed back to winning ways having dropped points last weekend.
Nungua United also dispatched Winneba giants 6-0, as they continued their search for a way back into the top flight of Ghana Beach Soccer.
Both the Championship and Division leagues wraps up in 6 weeks’ time at the La Beach Soccer Arena where Voltic will make a presentation to the winning teams. It is also expected that the GBSA will announce new partners and sponsors for the 2015 leagues.
