The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, says the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has a mind of impossibility when issues of national importance are discussed.
According to him, the party and its leadership do not believe anything good can happen in the country.
Dr Bawumia was speaking in reference to the government’s Gold-for-Oil Policy.
The Vice President says the NDC did not believe the policy achieve the success it has achieved and is thus very disappointed in the government's stellar implementation of the same.
“There are people who are very disappointed that it is working, but bleeding is allowed. They have an impossibility mindset, and they can keep to it. For us all, things are possible by the grace of God,” Dr Bawumia said.
He made the comments at the commissioning of the new Head Office of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) in Accra on Wednesday, March 15.
Dr Bawumia added that the government will continue to explore innovative solutions to the challenges that face the country.
He insisted that there will be no room for naysayers and doomsday predictions.
“There is more to come, this is the third month of operation of the policy. Some people said it will not work, and Ghana doesn’t have enough gold.
How can you say that? We have been mining this gold for 200 years, and they keep taking it out, and it cannot work for us. It doesn’t make sense,” Dr Bawumia added.
He thus urged Ghanaians to have full confidence in the government will deliver on its mandate in ensuring the citizenry are better off.
“With dedication and the right focus, we will deliver the mandate Ghanaians have entrusted in our care,” the Vice President promised.
